Working under Dr Lachlan Thompson at the Florey Institute, Christopher Turner is in the third year of his PhD studies. His project involves stem cell based therapies for the regrowth of neurons in spinal cord injury focusing on the survival and integration of neural stem cells, developed from pluripotent stem cell sources.
With the help of a $2000 SpinalCure Travel Grant Chris will be traveling to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to present at the 9th IBRO World Congress in July. Chris says, “The conference is one of the largest international neuroscience events of the year, and will be an excellent opportunity for me to network, share my own work, and hear first-hand about the work being accomplished in the field. “
