Medical regulators have been warning against what’s known as ‘stem cell tourism’.
Medical experts have warned that the downside of unproven stem cell treatments isn’t only that they won’t work, but they can be life-threatening, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.
“if you put the wrong kind of cells in the wrong place bad things can happen, even if symptoms don’t manifest right away,” Said Leigh Turner, a bioethicist at the University of Minnesota who has been tracking the proliferation of unproven stem cell treatments for several years.
