Billabong employees donate in memory of ‘Marls’

The team at Billabong’s Australian office recently held a bake sale to celebrate what would have been a birthday for their dear late friend and colleague of 30 years, Marlene Wills.

Together, the team at Boardriders Inc (which owns Billabong), raised approx. $1,300, to donate to SpinalCure, as Marls loved the Penguin Bloom book. This generous donation will help further research for a cure into spinal cord injury.

Marls clearly is very fondly remembered by the team, and this is what they had to say:

Marls, as she was affectionately known, was a beautiful person with a huge heart.

“She read, enjoyed and was so inspired by the book Penguin Bloom that she shared it around her networks with the book touching the hearts of many, especially here in the Billabong office. It would only be fitting that any funds raised in her Birthday Bake Sale would be donated onto the charity supported by Sam Bloom, SpinalCure Australia, as Sam was the inspiration for the book which Marls loved.

“With support from the brands and teams at Boardriders Inc, we were able to raise almost $1,300 at Marls Birthday Bake Sale for SpinalCure Australia, a fantastic way to celebrate the life of our beloved Marls.”

Marls will live on in the hearts and memories of her family, friends, and her Billabong workmates.
