Each year journalists of the Federal Parliamentary Press Gallery in Canberra and the politicians they cover, lay down their arms for a glamorous black-tie event before Parliament’s winter break. We are delighted to announce that this year, SpinalCure is to share in the proceeds of this charity event. Our thanks go to David Speers, President, and all at the Press Gallery for including us.
Last year more than 600 guests, including cabinet members, senior government and shadow ministers and their partners attended the event with competition between political rivals being confined to the charity auctions. For example, a barbecue with Mr Abbott went for $11,000, edging out dinner at The Lodge with Ms Gillard which fetched $10,100.
Hopefully the politicians might also be prompted to reflect on what a cure would mean to the 12,000+ constituents and their families who live with a spinal cord injury.
