Your support could help bring life-changing treatments to Australians with spinal cord injuries. People Like Alex.

Alex Richter, suffered a spinal cord injury while mountain biking at age 16, in year 11 at school.

“I just happened to have a bad day. I had a crash and was unlucky in how I landed and ended up breaking my C5 vertebrae,” Alex said.

Project Spark aims to help people like Alex regain lost body function and movement.

“If I could use my fingers, if I could use my triceps, that would make such a difference to me. Functionally, I would be able to just do so many more things, even just from getting myself in and out of bed, to being able to pick up a fork and use it to eat food. All that tiny, tiny amount of difference makes a really big difference to someone like me with a spinal cord injury,” Alex says.

“It could give me independence.”

Project Spark has clinical trials currently underway and more planned to take place across Australia subject to funding. These trials aim to restore not only movement but hope for thousands of everyday Australians living with paralysis. This is where your kind donations go.
