In June we were excited about research from Gregoire Courtine’s lab in Switzerland, which demonstrated full recovery of rats with SCI after a drug cocktail was coupled with electrical stimulation of the spinal cord below the level of injury. After two weeks, the animals were able to walk, climb stairs and run.

Courtine’s team now say they are preparing five patients for human trials of the technology to begin within months.
