Spinal Cure Australia

MICHAEL LONG - PGA Tour Golfer

On 27/12/99 NZ born PGA tour golfer Michael Long, winner of the 1999 Greg Norman Classic, suffered a broken neck at C6 whilst boogie-boarding at City beach in Perth. Fortunately he escaped any spinal cord damage and has now resumed his golfing career.

On hearing of Michael’s accident, I contacted him to see how he was going. We chatted at some length about his accident and he told me he realised how close he was to a far worse fate. I explained to Michael the research being done here in Australia to find a cure for spinal cord injury by SCA.

Michael mentioned he’d been looking for a worthy charity to align himself with and expressed much interest in coming on board to help. Michael was delighted to join us as a patron of SCA.
