DENIS PAGAN - Carlton Football Club Coach
Kangaroos coach, Denis Pagan, has joined SCA as a patron in 2000 after I met him at the Club when he asked me to give a talk to his players. Hes had a long career as a player and coach which started when he first played for North Melbourne in 1967. His last game for North Melbourne was the 1974 Grand Final, which they lost to Richmond. From there he went to South Melbourne where he played from 1975 till 1977. In 1978 Denis had a short stint at Port Melbourne and then went on to Captain/Coach Yarraville in the VFA until the end of 1979.
In 1980 he returned to North Melbourne as a specialist coach and from 1982-1991 he coached the under 19s which included getting them to 10 Grand Finals resulting in 6 Premierships. In 1992 Denis went to Essendon as an assistant coach to Kevin Sheedy. After that one year he landed the senior coaching job at North Melbourne which he has held for the past 10 years. In that time, the Kangaroos have won two Premierships, in 1996 and 1999. Denis is a proud patron of SCA and has made several generous personal donations. We welcome Denis support and are very grateful having him on board.
