TCA Cellular Therapy, a privately-held company whose mission is to create and accelerate adult stem cell therapies, has commenced recruitment for its Phase I clinical trial in the USA using autologous (patient's own) mesenchymal stem cells to treat spinal cord injury.

This trial will assess the safety and tolerability of an intrathecal (injection into the spinal canal) infusion of a single dose of ex vivo expanded mesenchymal stem cells.
