Michael Long made a "Birdies-for-Charity" pledge that he would personally donate $50-a-pop for every birdie during his PGA Tour in the US. His tour result was 216 birdies and 12 eagles equating to a donation of $11,400.

“It would have been nice to make a few more birdies but they don’t call the PGA Tour the toughest tour in the world for nothing … Whilst on the tour I do my best to raise the awareness of the need for research into spinal injuries. As my neck injury is documented in my tour bio, it is often one of the first things that reporters ask about … My short experience with immobility has opened my eyes to a genuine need to help people with sci.” says Michael.
