Presented by ARTEREAL, Shimmer is an exhibition of translucent sculptures, photographic prints, sequin and bead drawings and paintings developed by Glen Henderson working with a range of material and processes to explore different ways of interpreting nature’s dynamic geometry.

Detailing its relationship to stem cells and cell biology, the works in Shimmer have been largely inspired by research data – essentially cell structures on glass plates where each image captures a fleeting moment of cell life.

Nature intrigues both scientists and artists alike. They study its intricate design and geometric proportions in order to reach a better understanding of themselves, of others and of the environment. Recent groundbreaking advances in stem cell research for optimizing and extending life are now common knowledge - but the brain, a core part of who we are, remains a mystery to most of us.
