The primary aim of SCA is to end the permanence of paralysis caused by spinal cord injury (SCI), and to achieve this through:

• Promotion and funding of research.
• Fostering co-operation between all disciplines engaged in central nervous system research, regeneration and direct relief.
• Monitoring research progress of all scientists who are funded by or through SCA.
• Co-operation with international efforts in the field.
• Dissemination of information about developments in research.
• Assessment of methods of treating SCI.
• Development of appliances and equipment for those disabled by SCI.
