David Prast

David became quadriplegic in 1995. On the 25th February that year he broke his neck whilst bodysurfing on a beautiful warm summer evening in Perth.
His focus is to advocate for and assist the funding of Spinal Cord Injury research locally and internationally.
Recently, he has sought to promote the need for rehabilitation and intensive exercise in preparation for, and combination with, emerging cellular and pharmaceutical therapies.
His present roles include:
Honorary Director, SpinalCure Australia (1999).
Honorary Director, Spinal Cord Injuries Australia a national SCI prevention, care, cure advocacy and service organisation.
- Founding Convenor, International Campaign for Cures of SCI Paralysis (ICCP). The ICCP is an affiliation of the major SCI charities in Australia, North America, Europe and Asia. Its mission is simply to seek to expedite effective cures for SCI Paralysis.
He has written numerous articles for SCI publications and has been honoured to present at a number of SCI research conferences and workshops, such as:
- Forum forming part of the International Brain Research Organization (IBRO) World Congress of Neuroscience, Melbourne July 2007.
- International Workshop on trials and treatments China, held in Hong Kong Dec 2005.
- ICCP sponsored Clinical trials symposium in Vancouver 2004.
His hobbies include promoting SCI research, promoting SCI research and promoting SCI research and testing the theory that red wine and good friends will help you live a long, healthy and happy life.
